www.kake.com/home/headlines/Virus_Could_Keep_Computers_From_Connecting_To_The_Internet_This_Summer_148462285.htmlSunday April, 22, 2012 A warning for all internet users: the Federal Bureau of Investigation says hundreds of thousands of people might not be able to get online this summer. According to the FBI, most victims don't even know their computers are infected so they're asking all computer owners to check for a type of malware called DNS Changer. Once it's on your computer, if you type in a web address like www.kake.com, the malware can actually send you to a fake version of that website. On July 9, hundreds of thousands of computers could lose the ability to connect to the internet. According to the FBI, a group of international hackers infected the computers in an online advertising scam. A safety net set up by the FBI has allowed the infected computers to access the internet for the last few months, but that system will be shut down this summer. To protect yourself and avoid losing your internet connection, the FBI is asking all computer owners go to www.dcwg.org. The website will let you know if your computer is infected and how to fix it.
